Commandant Lipowski; The French hero of Polish origin who led the Francs-Tireurs during the heroic defense of Chateaudun, for which he was awarded the Légion d’honneur. He later participated in the defense of Paris, during which he again showed enormous bravery leading a group of 130 Francs-Tireurs in a successful raid on the Prussian Schleswig-Holstein cavalry, taking some 70 prisoners and 200 horses with them.
