Panzerstürm Platoon (with Vampir IR Equipment)
(GE848)
Includes one Command Panzerfaust Assault Rifle team and Six Panzerfaust assault rifle teams, one Small three-hole base, one Small two-hole base, & six Medium four-hole bases.
The FHH brigade’s two Panzersturmkompanien (armoured assault companies) were a new concept when first formed.
They merge the assault firepower of the StG44 assault rifle with the mobility and long-ranged firepower of the Sd Kfz 251 half-track. The result is ideal for an aggressive assault role. The half-tracks get the troops close, then cover them as they dismount and assault. As they are also equipped with Panzerfaust anti-tank launchers, the Sturm platoons are capable of taking on almost any threat.
The ability to conduct effective offensive operations at night has long been recognized as a tactical advantage. However, until the 20th Century there had been no effective way to permit people to retain anything approaching their daylight levels of visual acuity during night-time operations. New technological developments including cathode ray tubes and oscillators meant that by the 1930’s night vision devices had entered the realm of feasibility.
Infra-red equipment allows troops to see further at night, using a spectrum of light not seen with the naked eye. This equipment allowed panzers to launch local spoiling attacks at night in conjunction with infra-red ZG 1229 Vampir (Vampire) equipped infantry.

StG44 Assault Rifles
The StG44 assault rifle (Sturmgewehr 44, Assault Rifle 44) is an amazingly innovative weapon that gave birth to a whole generation of modern infantry assault rifles used around the world today. It combined the ease of use of a carbine with the firepower of a submachine-gun.
Assault Rifle teams have a ROF of 3 and a Range of 8"/20cm. Like SMG teams, movement doesn't affect the ROF of Assault Rifle teams, so they shoot at a ROF of 3 even if they move, but drop to ROF 1 if Pinned Down.
Panzerfaust Assault Rifle teams are rated as Tank Assault 6
Infra-Red Equipment in Flames Of War
A player commanding a German company equipped with teams with Infra-red Equipment may elect to make a Night Attack in any mission. If they do so, their company has the Always Attack special rule (see page 257 of the rulebook). If a player that makes a Night Attack is the attacker, the game starts in Darkness and uses the Dawn rules. When making a Night Attack all German platoons with Infra-red Equipment can use the Spearhead special rule (see page 261 of the rulebook).
