Red Banner Warriors
(SU886)
includes 23 metal figures, with a Red Banner Colour Party and alternate command, Panzerfaust and pioneer figures, one medium four-hole base and one small three-hole base.
A Red Banner is a useful way of motivating your troops, while adding a splash of extra colour to your army. Rather than just offering the Red Banner Colour Party on its own, we have created a versatile blister pack containing a variety of figures which will make useful additions to your Soviet army in numerous different ways.
Ultimately it is entirely up to you how you want to integrate them into your army, even if you just want to mix some of the figures in with your Strelkovy teams to add variety. They were designed by the same sculptor who created the '3-up' masters for the plastic Soviet figures, so they will blend in well.
To Victory!
Your regiment has received one of the coveted Red Banners. Your mission is to plant this patriotic icon on top of the fascist Reichstag as a symbol of final victory!
A force that includes a Red Banner Command team Always Attacks (see page 257 of the Flames Of War rulebook).
Za Rodinu!
This is it! The enemy cowers below ground as our brave comrades crush their so-called fortresses. Final victory is upon us; Za Rodinu! (For the homeland!)
The colour guard is a hand-picked group of volunteers. They will make it their sacred duty to see our Red Banner fly triumphantly over the conquered fascists.
The platoon (Soviet company) with the Red Banner Command team always has Quantity of Quality (see page 251 of the rulebook), regardless of the number of teams in the platoon (Soviet company).
The platoon (Soviet company) with the Red Banner Command team uses the German Mission Tactics special rule (see page 242 of the Flames Of War rulebook).
The World is Watching
The people’s Red Banner is in your hands. Comrade Stalin is watching you and the world is holding its breath.
If the Red Banner Command team is within 4”/10cm of an Objective that has been placed in your opponent’s Deployment Area or No Man’s Land, the game does not end if your opponent Takes an Objective.
If you win the game with the Red Banner Command team within 4”/10cm of an Objective that has been placed in your opponent’s Deployment Area or No Man’s Land, you gain one Victory Point and your opponent loses one Victory Point.
However, if you lose the game with a the Red Banner Command team in your force, you lose one Victory Point and your opponent gains one Victory Point.
Players can never score more than 7 Victory Points or less than 0 Victory Points in the game, no matter what other modifiers may be in play.
The banner bearer should be placed on a medium base with three or four colour guard escort miniatures - you can of course use the SMG-armed figures from the blister, as in the photographs above. Or you can mix and match with other infantry figures such as the plastic Strelkovy Company (SBX30).
The senior officer figure, with his distinctive jacket and cane, would be a great option for your Battalion Commander or Komissar.
The cameraman is such a characterful figure, two are included in the pack. He can add some flavour to one of your Command or Komissar teams, or perhaps become part of an interesting diorama or objective marker.
The figure throwing a molotov cocktail and another preparing to sling a satchel charge are perfect for modelling pioneer teams for your sapper companies.
During Operation Bagration thousands of German Panzerfaust anti-tank launchers were captured by the Red Army and put to good use. These figures can be mixed in with your Strelkovy to model all those Panzerfaust uprades that become more and more common towards the end of the war, as well as Faustnika teams for your Hero Inzhenerno-Saperniy Company.
